The Calgary Kiwanis Music Festival is a tradition that brings people of all ages together to share their love for music and the speech arts. As one of North America's largest amateur competitive classical music festivals, the Calgary Kiwanis Music Festival gives almost 9,500 amateur musicians and speech arts performers the opportunity to perform, compete for scholarships, listen to others, and be adjudicated by national and international adjudicators.
The Calgary Kiwanis Music Festival features performers from 5 to 25 years of age, in 1,005 classes in 16 categories including piano, speech, choirs, musical theatre and, for the first time, harp classes. Classes are open to individuals, duets, small ensembles and groups.
Come see the city’s best and brightest amateur performing artists in musical theatre, drama and all kinds of vocal and instrumental performances at the Calgary Kiwanis Festival.
The Festival welcomes 12,000 performers to the stage at Jubilee Auditorium and SAIT Polytechnic between March 1st and 20th, 2010. Daily sessions are open to the public - at no charge – and four special concerts highlight some of the most outstanding performances in Musical Theatre, European Masters classes and Speech Performance.
